Milspouse Meet and Greet: Lindsey Litton
written for Milspouse Magazine
Oftentimes as military spouses, you find yourself in the background or hanging out on the sidelines. Putting off professional pursuits waiting for the perfect time to jump into the professional scene. And as a seasoned, now retired military spouse, I’m here to tell you that sometimes you just have to go for it and NOW is the perfect time. Waiting until the next move–or worse, waiting till retirement–isn’t the answer. If you’re craving finding a new job, launching that passion project, or starting-up that new business–take it from this seasoned military spouse, now is the time!

And here’s something else I’m going to share with you, it’s not going to be easy. But not doing anything is also not easy. So it’s really a matter of picking your “hard” And once you’ve decided that you’re ready, go! It’s going to be a journey.
Had I known what sort of crazy journey starting up a real estate business would be, launching an online network aimed at helping military families connect with pre-screened realtors, and now coaching, training, and speaking to small businesses on how they too can grow, scale, and give back through their businesses… I might have called you crazy. Yet, all it took was trust in that one fearful step of starting something new that put me on the path I’m on today.
So, I see you! And I see way too many of you packing away your dreams as if you’re packing up your mother’s dishes in a box preparing for that next move. You know how important it is to take care of those dishes so you pack them yourself and load them in your car. Only to carefully unpack them again at the next house and stare at them on the shelf.

It’s time to unpack those dreams. It’s time to eat on that fine china and it’s time to start living. Having been where most of you are, I know it is scary. I know you want to know all the things–yet like our lives in the military, in business you never know what can happen. I do truly believe that my military spouse experience made me a better business woman, it makes me a better leader, and it makes me a better coach.
Most people don’t come pre-programmed with a skill set that allows them to pick up their entire household and move it across the country in less than a few weeks–yet those skills come in handy when you’re launching, growing, and pivoting in the business world.

So friends, if you’re still on the fence about what you should or shouldn’t do after your next move, know that I’m here to encourage you to not wait. Take that first step. Look for that next job. Launch that new business. Or kick-start that passion project. You’ll never know when a crazy idea shared over ice-lattes can turn into something so amazing that it transforms the lives of those around you.
